Cassie Callegher

Kura is where low-tox living, herbal medicine, and honest health guidance meet. Built by a woman who found her own answers and couldn't keep them to herself.

A journey back to wholeness.

At fourteen, Cassie Callegher's body was trying to tell her something. She never had a regular period. The response from her doctor was simple: here's the
pill. No questions about why. No investigation into what her body might need.

She stayed on hormonal contraception for fifteen years.

By her early thirties, more things had gone wrong. A difficult personal season. A gut
infection picked up in Bali that never quite resolved. An autoimmune diagnosis.
One of the country's top gastroenterologists was honest with her; there were
drugs she could take for the rest of her life, or she could manage it through
diet. He also mentioned, almost as an aside, that people sometimes don't cope
well with conditions like hers. That was the treatment plan.

Three separate doctors, across those years, had also told her she would likely struggle to conceive.

How it started

I didn't argue with
any of them.

Over the next decade, Cassie saw more than 25 practitioners - naturopaths, herbalists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, nutritionists, functional neurologists, kinesiologists, homeopaths, and
more. Each one taught her something. Each one added a piece to a picture that
had taken years to assemble.

The naturopath that taught her to read her own body in ways no GP appointment ever had. The homeopath opened a door to an entirely different understanding of medicine and how it could work alongside everything else she was learning. The acupuncturist transformed her dermatitis and supported her through pregnancy. The functional neurologist finally examined her nervous system, the upstream driver of almost everything else.

She also began reading labels. She started connecting what was in her home, the
cleaning products, the makeup, the laundry liquid; to how her body was responding. She made swaps.

At 30 years old, Cassie had her first regular period. No drugs. No medical intervention.

Then she got pregnant. Three doctors had told her this was effectively impossible.

When she became a mother, everything became more urgent. She looked around and saw the same quiet suffering in the women around her, women carrying diagnoses they'd been told were permanent, mothers dismissed with a mid-range test result and sent home, women who suspected there was another way but didn't know which direction to walk in.

The map didn't exist. So she built it.

KNOWLEDGE & STUDY

Still learning. Always will be.

Cassie is currently studying for her Advanced Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine at Nature Care College, Sydney, one of Australia's leading natural therapies institutions. Her study covers the clinical application of herbal medicine, plant pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, and patient assessment.

This sits alongside more than a decade of personal practice: using herbal medicine within her own family, building seasonal remedies, and learning to identify and work with medicinal plants across Australian and traditional European traditions. She has consulted with over 25 practitioners spanning herbal medicine, naturopathy, acupuncture, functional neurology, kinesiology, and chiropractic and that depth of experience across disciplines is as much a part of her knowledge base as any textbook.

Her approach to everything published on Kura is grounded in three things: lived experience, formal study, and intellectual honesty about what she knows and what she doesn't.

"I started to look around and realised it wasn’t just me. So many women around me were carrying the same quiet symptoms, the same unanswered questions, and the same exhaustion from trying to feel well in a world that often makes it hard. That was when I knew Kura had to exist, not just for me, but for all of us."

What Kura stands for

These are the principles that guide everything we create.

01

Honest, always

We tell the truth about products, ingredients, and the limits of what we know. We won't recommend something we haven't used ourselves.

02

Gentle, not extreme

Low tox living is a direction, not a destination. Every small swap matters.

03

Family first

Everything we create is tested in our own family home, with our own children.

04

Rooted in nature

We believe in the wisdom of plants and the power of simple ingredients.

05

Practical above all

Beautiful ideas are only useful if they work in real life.

06

Building for the long term

Kura is a slow build — a resource that grows deeper and more useful over time.
